SAN FRANCISCO GIRLS CHOUS SELECTED AS FIRST-EVER U.S. FINALISTS IN BBC CHORAL COMPETITION “LET THE PEOPLES SING”AS ONE OF THREE INTERNATIONAL YOUTH CHOIRS TO PERFORM IN MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, IN OCTOBER 2012

San Francisco, CA February 3, 2011—The five-time Grammy Award-winning San Francisco Girls Chorus (SFGC), conducted by Susan McMane, has made music history by being selected as the first-ever U.S. competitor in the prestigious BBC and European Broadcasting Union competitions, “Let The Peoples Sing,” in Manchester England in October 2012. The 45-year-old biennial competition features three choruses in three categories—youth, adult and an open category for choruses that perform music within a specific cultural tradition. SFGC was nominated by the programming staff of American Public Radio, and SFGC will sing against two other youth choirs, one from Tallin, Estonia, and one from Sweden.
